What is Celebrate Recovery?

Celebrate Recovery (CR) is a ministry that provides community and support for those desiring God's healing from "hurts, habits and hang-ups." As we walk through the "8 Recovery Principles" we begin to celebrate God's healing power in our lives by sharing our experiences, victories, failures and hopes with others in a safe place.

 Who comes to CR?

Men and women of all ages and backgrounds come to CR and are welcomed. You do not need to attend the church at Matlby Christian Assembly or register for the group. Just show up...as you are...you will be welcomed.

Although many of those who come are seeking recovery from substance abuse, just as many if not more, come seeking recovery from other life issues including divorce and other relational issues, uncontrolled anger, codependency, abuse, eating disorders, gambling addiction, sexual addiction, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors, and character issues such as self-centeredness and greed. Some come just to grow stronger in their relationship to God.

 When does CR meet?

CR meets every Monday evening (except Memorial and Labor Day).

  • 6pm Dinner - A group dinner is provided to build relationships in a casual setting and also to make it easier for those who come straight from work. Although it is a great time of fellowship, dinner is not a requirement to take part in the rest of the evening. Donations are appreciated to help cover costs.
  • 7pm Group Gathering - We all meet together for a time of worship and a short teaching or testimony from a CR leader/participant.
  • 8pm Small Groups - This is the time we break into small groups which are gender and recovery specific, meeting with others with similar hurts, habits and hang-ups. We work hard to keep these "safe" groups where confidentiality and anonymity are required of each small group participant. What is said in the groups, stays in the group.

Is childcare provided?

We provide quality childcare for children birth through 6th grade during CR meetings and dinner.
